Dear Reader,

When I first became a member of the Aspen Valley Hospital team in September of 2004, I was extremely impressed with the expertise and commitment of the staff, and equally moved by the quality of care and comprehensiveness of services.  Today, I continue to be impressed.  The most meaningful testimonials come from our customers — the patients and families who have had a health care experience at AVH.  In addition to the numerous thank you letters we receive, I am always pleased to read those sent to the local newspapers.  Particularly meaningful was when a journalist from the Aspen Times dedicated his entire article to his family’s experience with our hospital, writing,

"...from the time I called 911 until the time my mother left Aspen Valley Hospital, heading back home, we encountered extraordinary people doing an extraordinary job. We were treated with intelligence, care and compassion. And, beyond that, the people we encountered seemed genuinely friendly. And happy. My relatives — three from New York, one from San Francisco — kept exclaiming that everyone was so nice. And so professional."

This columnist, impressed with the hospital, the equipment, the good food, and the wonderful views, stated, "...I used to have a somewhat jaundiced view of all those gushing letters of thanks that people would send to the paper.  Now, I find myself glowing with pride for my community and my hospital — and the wonderful people who make it all work."

A writer for Outside Magazine , who wrote about AVH emergency services also spoke highly of AVH, referring to the "unfailing hospitality," "world-class bedside manner," and "sophisticated high-tech care you might expect at a much larger hospital." She says, "The difference becomes clear behind the closed doors, where you find the multimillion-dollar CT and MRI scanners, the tele-networked computers, and numerous monitors."

I think both of these writers capture the spirit of AVH: state-of-the-art technology; warm, friendly, and compassionate care; and an ability to create a positive experience for people in need. Whether it's an emergency affecting you or a member of your family, a simple outpatient test, a same-day surgery, or a specialty service such as orthopaedics/sports medicine, cosmetic surgery, pain management, or trauma care, you can count on our staff to provide you with kind, competent, considerate service. Our physicians and technology are on the cutting edge, and our staff are a highly-educated and committed group of professionals.

We also provide a comprehensive array of services. With the exception of just a few maladies — such as those requiring neurosurgery and invasive cardiac procedures — residents and visitors of the Roaring Fork Valley can receive care right here in Aspen.

While we wish you good health, I assure you that, should you need medical care, the physicians and staff at Aspen Valley Hospital will do their very best to provide you with a positive healthcare experience.

Best Regards,
