THE LABORATORY AT ASPEN VALLEY HOSPITAL is a round-the-clock, state-of-the-art facility that provides personalized customer service along with a comprehensive laboratory test menu. The size and rural location of our laboratory belies its extensive, high-tech automation and its broad scope of lab services.  In addition, the AVH lab is affiliated with Mayo Medical Laboratories, the national reference laboratory for Mayo Clinic, located in Rochester, Minnesota.  Mayo Medical Laboratories, a medical center-based, physician led organization, is internationally known for its team of consultative experts that focus on the needs of the patient.  The AVH/Mayo collaboration consolidates reference testing, improves turnaround time, and strengthens Aspen Valley Hospital's efforts to provide exceptional laboratory services and patient care to the Aspen area community.  

The Laboratory at AVHAll of the lab technologists at AVH possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology and are certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Another extraordinary aspect of this well-trained group of technologists is that they boast an average of more than 16 years cumulative experience per technologist, a rare feature in the working world of Aspen.

The AVH Laboratory is licensed by the Food & Drug Administration and the government agency known as CLIA which oversees clinical labs. The laboratory also receives regular accreditation from the College of American Pathologists, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the American Association of Blood Banks.
